She Never Knew

Lying in her room,
blood covering the floor.
They can't get in,
she has barricaded the door.

Her mind is growing distant,
as her lips begin to quiver.
Her knife lies on her stomach,
it sends a cold shiver.

She can hear them screaming,
but she doesn't understand.
She thought they didn't care for her,
depression held her hand.

Scared and shaking she lies there,
with suicide in her head.
If her parents don't get to her,
then death will instead.

She tries to cry out,
but she can barely make a squeak.
She can't move her limbs,
her body is to weak.

She knows she going to die,
but she is fighting to live.
As the angels of death move in,
her body she won't give.

She never even knew,
that her parents really cared.
She just assumed the obvious,
the emotion they both shared.

She thought they didn't love her,
because they were never around.
Now she regrets doing it,
but it is to late to death she is bound.

She tries to cry for her mother,
but her eyes have gone dry.
She is paralyzed between life and death,
as she slowly starts to die.

Her father bursts through the door,
to find her in this state.
He falls to the floor to hold her,
but they have gotten there to late.

Their daughter cold and lifeless,
with a single tear in her eye.
There little beloved baby,
away with the angels she'll fly.

And watch over her parents,
that she never thought cared.
A piece of there heart gone with her,
if only she was spared

Yes , if only she was spared is a sad ending because if she had been spared she would know that her parents truely cared even if they didn't show it the way she needed to be shown.
Beautiful piece though very inlighting.
Peace & Blessings

Death has a way of making us question everything, only seeing what we should have after its too late. I like the way you've implied that here.
